Liturgy Committee

Within the Liturgy Committee, there two groups of volunteers, a planning group and a decorating crew, both guided by Fr. David. As we move through the Church year, and with such a large parish, the committee provides a much needed service.

Starting in September, ending after Easter, the planning group (volunteers, the head of music ministry, and Fr. David) typically meet for one hour a month.

Here is a sample as to what the group helps plan for:  Reconciliation Services, Stations of the Cross, Lenten Soup and Bread, Advent, Holy Week, and the Liturgies of Christmas and Easter.

The committee is also involved with the various ministries, such as Eucharistic Ministers, Ushers, Lectors, and Sacristans.

The decorating crew assembles a small army before each season, or Liturgical Feast, and transforms the environment of the church to fit the occasion. We have picture albums from previous years, which we use as a guide, but new ideas are always welcome.

Some of the decorating days even involve some heavy work, such as cutting Christmas trees to size, ladder work, and carpentry skills, so wives, don’t leave your husbands at home!

The big decorating days are before Christmas and Easter.
