Care Net of Billings 2008 Update

We have completed our major remodel at our main location at 2321 Broadwater and began offering medical services mid-March. This remodel was quite extensive inside and out as well as adding new services. Now both Care Net of Billings locations offer consultation with a registered nurse, pregnancy options education, ultrasounds, and pregnancy testing. Our location on Broadwater has the space to accommodate our education program, Earn While You Learn. This program enables women and often times their partners participate as well, to pick a lesson  that will them in preparing for their unborn child or some basic parenting education. They are able to provide basic needs for their baby by earning Baby Bucks through the EWYL program.

We are very excited about the added services at our Care Net Women’s Clinic West location and invite you all to attend our Open House on May 4th from 1-3. If you would like more information about Care Net of Billings and the services we offer or would like to know how to support this ministry with your time or financial resources you can log on to our website at www.billingscpc.org or call 652-4868 and ask for DeAnn. If you know of someone who needs help with an unplanned pregnancy direct them to either one of our locations 15 Wicks Lane Suite B in Billings Heights or 2321 Broadwater on the west end. They can find out more about our services at www.carenetofbillings.com.

A recent visitor to Care Net Women’s Clinic was a young teenage girl I will call Jenny. Jenny’s request was for a pregnancy test, a service we gladly provided for her. Upon discovering that her test was positive Jenny expressed deep concern, apprehension and a sense of being overwhelmed about what the future would bring for her and her child. The details that followed indicated that Jenny was truly going to need a lot of support in her pregnancy journey.

Following a home pregnancy test the father of the baby told Jenny to leave their home. Jenny returned to Billings, Montana to live with her mother. Jenny’s mom is presently assisting Jenny with visits to Care Net, but Jenny wonders just how long her mom will continue to help. It seems that their past relationship has often been colored with turbulence and uncertainty. For a very long time Jenny has been unsure about the reality of mother/daughter relationship and so has not solicited help from her mom.

The goal of the Client Advocate was to give Jenny information about healthy relationships, and avenues to regaining a wholesome relationship with God, and the support of a church community. Jenny was also made aware of community services and churches in the Billings area.

The next step was for Jenny to meet with our clinic nurse who directed her to places where she would receive reliable prenatal care. Our nursing staff provided prenatal vitamins and instructions on how to receive support and care for the months that would follow. An ultrasound proved to be very insightful for Jenny. She was told the approximate number of weeks she was pregnant, as well as having the opportunity to see her child for the first time. Jenny’s decision is to carry her child to full term and to parent her child as a single mom.

Before leaving Care Net Jenny accepted a Bible and the Client Advocate prayed with her that God would soften the heart of her baby’s father and that she would accept God’s intervention in her life. Jenny was very excited about returning to Care Net to participate in the Ultrasound Model Program. Once again Jenny will be able to see her child and the developmental process that is taking place within her body.

Jenny left Care Net with a new sense of confidence having received direction and support to continue the journey to a life giving experience.
